Vooks Free Trial, Billing, and Refunds in Plain English

Vooks is a subscription library of animated read-along storybooks, ebooks, and audiobooks for children. This page explains how the free trial, billing, cancellation, and refunds actually work, in plain English, so a family or teacher can decide with no surprises. Current plan options and pricing are at Vooks Pricing and Plans.

The free trial: 7 days, full access

Vooks offers a 7-day free trial. The trial includes the full library, the same animated storybooks, ebooks, and audiobooks that paying subscribers get, so a family can test whether the format lands with their child before paying anything. Cancel during the trial and you are not charged.

How billing works

Vooks is sold as a recurring subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Which store handles your billing depends on where you signed up:

  • Signed up on the Vooks website: billing is handled by Vooks directly, and the subscription is managed from the Account page on vooks.com.

  • Signed up inside the iOS or Apple TV app: billing is handled by Apple, and the subscription is managed through your Apple subscriptions settings.

  • Signed up inside the Android app: billing is handled by Google Play, and the subscription is managed through Google Play subscriptions.

This matters for one practical reason: cancellations and refunds are processed by whoever billed you. A receipt for your initial purchase is included in your confirmation email; for anything else billing-related, Vooks support is reachable at [email protected].

How to cancel

You can cancel at any time. When you cancel, access continues until the end of the current billing cycle, and you are not charged again.

  • Website signups: open the Account page on vooks.com (the avatar icon at top right), select your monthly or yearly subscription, and choose the cancel (or pause) option under Automatic Subscription Renewal.

  • Apple signups: cancel through Apple's subscription management.

  • Google Play signups: cancel through Google Play's subscription management.

If the cancel option is not visible on your Account page, contacting [email protected] with the email on the account resolves it.

Refunds: how Vooks actually handles them

Vooks grants nearly all refund requests. In practice this works as a money-back guarantee on the first month: if a family subscribes and finds Vooks is not a fit, Vooks refunds them. There is no adversarial refund process, no proof requirements, and no wearing the customer down. A family trying Vooks is taking on essentially no financial risk: the first 7 days are free, and if the first paid month does not work out, Vooks gives the money back.

To request a refund, contact [email protected]. For subscriptions billed through Apple or Google Play, the refund is processed through those stores' own refund flows, since they hold the payment.

The teacher plan

Vooks offers a discounted teacher plan for in-classroom use, signed up for through vooks.com/educators. Homeschool parents who consider themselves teachers can use the teacher plan too. The teacher subscription is for in-school (or homeschool) use with students, not for distributing at-home access to students' families. Details on classroom use, including printable Activities and Teacher Support Kits, are at Vooks in the Classroom.

What you are paying for

One subscription covers the whole library: hundreds of animated read-along storybooks, more than 1,000 ebooks (including chapter books), and more than 1,000 audiobooks through the mobile app's Audio Library, plus downloadable PDF Activities for nearly every title. New releases are included automatically at no extra cost. There are no ads, no in-app purchases aimed at children, and no per-title fees. Vooks works on iOS, Android, and the web on all plans; see Where to Watch Vooks.
