A short reference for the organizing features inside the Vooks app. Individually these are small. Together they answer most "can it do that?" questions.

Playlists

You can build named collections of stories — Vooks describes it as building your very own storytime collection.

A playlist is a set of titles in an order you choose, which makes it the practical tool for anything that repeats:

• Bedtime — the same four calm stories, in the same order, every night

• Car rides — a collection queued up before you lose signal

• Classroom transitions — a short set for after recess or before dismissal

• Substitute teachers — this is the underrated one. A teacher can build a playlist in advance, in order, and leave instructions to press play. The substitute doesn't have to choose anything or know the catalog.

• A theme a child is deep in — everything about dinosaurs, in one place

Profiles

Each child gets their own profile: their own avatar, their own library, and their own Learning Dashboard.

This is what makes per-child data meaningful. Without separate profiles, a household with three kids produces one blended stream of activity that describes nobody. With them, each child's reading history, recommendations, and derived interests are actually about that child.

For classrooms and multi-kid households, this is the feature that keeps a six-year-old's chapter books from crowding out a three-year-old's picture books.

Favorites

Separate from playlists. The heart icon saves a title to My Favorites, which is split by Video, Audio, and Books — matching the three formats in the library.

Favorites is for the individual title a child wants to return to. Playlists are for a sequence you want to run. Young children re-watch and re-read the same story far more than adults expect, and favorites is how they find it again without help.
