Ebooks on Vooks: Picture Books, Early Readers, and Chapter Books
Yes, Vooks has ebooks — nearly 1,000 of them, included on every paid plan at no extra cost.
This is the part of the Vooks catalog most people don't know about. Vooks is best known for animated read-along storybooks, and that is still the core of what the service does. But the library now spans three distinct formats, and the ebook collection is the newest and largest piece of it.
What's in the ebook library
The ebook collection includes picture books, early readers, and chapter books. Titles can be saved to favorites and downloaded to read offline in the iOS and Android apps.
Chapter books matter here. Animated read-along storybooks are built for ages 2 to 8, primarily 2 to 6. Chapter-book ebooks extend the useful range of a Vooks subscription to roughly age 12 — which means one subscription can cover a wider age spread in a family or a mixed-age classroom, and a child who outgrows the animated titles has somewhere to go inside the same app.
How ebooks fit alongside the other formats
Vooks is organized around three ways to experience a story, and this is built into the app itself rather than bolted on. The app's bottom navigation reads Watch / Listen / Read:
-
Watch — animated read-along storybooks with narration and word-by-word highlighted text
-
Listen — the Audio Library, more than 1,000 audiobooks for screen-free listening
-
Read — the ebook library
My Library carries the same structure, with separate tabs for Video, Audio, Books, and Downloads.
The formats do different jobs. An animated storybook is the guided read-along moment: narration paced deliberately, each word highlighted as it is spoken. An ebook is quieter and more self-directed — a child reading at their own pace, or an adult reading aloud from the screen the way they would from a paper book. An audiobook is the screen-free option for the car, quiet time, and after lights out.
What an ebook on Vooks is not
Vooks ebooks are books. They are not animated, and they do not carry the synchronized word highlighting that the animated titles do — that is a feature of the Watch library specifically. If word-by-word highlighting is what you are looking for, the animated storybooks are where to find it.
How to get to them
Open the Vooks app on iOS or Android and tap Read in the bottom navigation. Downloads for offline use live in the mobile apps.
Ebooks are included for paid subscribers on all plans, alongside the animated storybook library, the Audio Library, Vooks Creator, and Storyteller.
